School Rules
The Chow Gar Hakka Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu system demands dedication and commitment while fostering a supportive class atmosphere. This will help everyone get the most out of their training and involvement with the school.
1. Respect your teacher and each other at all times - this is paramount. Students at all times must refer to the teacher by the title "Sifu". Infighting is not acceptable at any time, and will result in immediate expulsion.
2. Always wear suitable clothing i.e. black tracksuit bottoms or black Kung Fu bottoms and a plain white or official school T-shirt (click here for the online store). Please wear either specific training shoes or bare feet. Always come to lessons with clean hands and cut nails, as the training is very much hands on.
3. All mobile phones are to be switched off or put on silent/vibrate alert during the lesson so as not to disrupt the class.
4. Always try to be early to class, if you are unavoidably late, discretely warm up at the back of the class, before seeking permission from the Sifu to join in.
5. If you are unsure of techniques or applications, please ask the Sifu, in the first instance, or a senior student (Sihing) as they will be happy to explain. The class environment is one of support, and helping one another, remember nobody is perfect. Concentrate on your own training but always offer assistance to those who may be struggling or need help.
6. Never abuse the techniques and skills shown to you, they are highly dangerous and should only be used in self-defence situations. Misuse will result in immediate expulsion from the school, and other Chow Gar Hakka Southern Praying Mantis schools being notified to that effect.
